How Do You Say “home-away-from-home” in Spanish?

CyraCom Donates to the Ronald McDonald Charity Houses

We’re happy to announce that now over 40 Ronald McDonald Charity Houses can speak effectively with their non-English-speaking House families!

This year, CyraCom donated our interpretation services to two more Ronald McDonald Charity Houses: the House of Delaware and the House of Charleston. We’ve been donating to the Ronald McDonald Charity Houses since 2005 – our company’s ten-year anniversary – and we’ve been adding more houses every year.

A Ronald McDonald House provides a “home-away-from-home” at little or no cost to families so they can stay close to their hospitalized child. At every House, families enjoy home-cooked meals, private bedrooms, and playrooms for children. Through CyraCom’s support, Ronald McDonald Charity Houses has been able to effectively communicate with Limited English Proficient children and their families.

“Our mission is to provide comfort, care and support to children and families during one of their most difficult times in their lives,” says Rebecca Jackson, director of operations, Long Beach Ronald McDonald House. “We help serve families from our local community and around the world, and it is essential we be able to communicate with them at any hour of the day. CyraCom has allowed our Guest Service Associates to interpret easily and assist international families from Mexico, Jamaica, Japan, China, Vietnam, Nigeria and much more.”

“The excellence of US Healthcare has encouraged international families to come here to receive quality care for their loved ones,” says Jeremy Woan, Chairman and CEO of CyraCom. “We are happy to support charities like Ronald McDonald Charity Houses through our donation of quality interpreting services, and ultimately to help Limited English Proficient families who are in need.”

CyraCom is also thrilled that the House of Delaware and the House of Charleston are already seeing the benefits of our donation.

“We used the translation line for the first time yesterday and it was amazing!” said House of Delaware’s Guest Services Manager, Megan Racobaldo. “I can’t thank you enough for providing us with your services. Not only did it make our check in with a Spanish speaking family so much easier, the family was able to receive all the information they needed about our House and the services we can offer them. They were extremely appreciative.”

“We are extremely appreciative for the wonderful donation CyraCom has given to us – it truly makes a difference,” says Jackson. “Thank you for helping us help kids.”
