CyraCom Updates the CyraCom Interpreter App by adding 20+ Languages over Video to Its 200+ Languages over Audio


CyraCom has released the newest version of the CyraCom Interpreter app, which allows clients to connect to trained video interpreters over tablets and smart phones.  While previous versions of the app supported over 200 languages through audio, this version adds over 20 languages through video.

The CyraCom Interpreter app provides another way to access CyraCom’s highly qualified video interpreters. CyraCom’s Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) service has been available from any computer through CyraCom’s web portal since 2011. The company has already been recognized for its VRI service, receiving the TripleTree iAward for innovative technology in healthcare in 2013.

In addition to spoken languages, CyraCom also provides 24/7 support for American Sign Language. CyraCom’s solution allows healthcare providers to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

“Healthcare providers today are faced with increasing cost pressures,” said Jeremy Woan, Chairman and CEO of CyraCom. “Accessing interpreters over video or phone can lead to significant cost savings.”

Many hospitals are already seeing results from implementing CyraCom’s VRI service. “Preliminary results from an internal trial showed significant costs savings by using CyraCom’s VRI solution,” said Ibzan Monteagudo, Director of Language Access Services at Wheaton Franciscan Health System in Milwaukee, WI. “Healthcare providers love that they get immediate access to an interpreter.”

With CyraCom, all components of the VRI service are integrated and controlled by CyraCom, including the user interface, video network, interpreter stations, and interpreter quality assurance.
